Skeleton Key 02:55
I’ve got it in my hand A solution for any situation It’s all according to plan This familiar combination Keep it out of sight Hidden away from view A secret unfolding Revealing what is true Skeleton key To all your secret places Lock it away In all your hidden spaces I’m everywhere you are I have access to everything Doors or gates or bolts or bars I can get through anything Keep it out of sight Hidden away from view A secret unfolding Revealing what is true Skeleton key To all your secret places Lock it away In all your hidden spaces I type your password in Your defenses are down But did you let me win To keep me from getting out? Keep it out of sight Hidden away from view A secret unfolding Revealing what is true Skeleton key To all your secret places Lock it away In all your hidden spaces Skeleton key To all your secret places Lock it away In all your hidden spaces

No Memory 02:50
Jimmy had a problem in his job He couldn’t focus cause his heart throbbed Passing by her desk he would cry Been two weeks since she said goodbye Seemed to occupy all of his thoughts What could he do? He was distraught Seeing us put his mind at ease Now he lives his life as he pleases With no memory No memory At No Memory No memory Poor Becky she had been betrayed Her friend revealed the truth she conveyed Everyone learned the secret she had hid An injustice she could never rid Years later she hadn’t forgot Trusting anyone still remained so fraught She came to see us and what do you know Her mind became as pure as driven snow With no memory No memory At No Memory No memory Scars of the mind don’t simply go away They can wound, disrupt and trouble you every day We’ll provide you the helping hand you need In a few short sessions you’ll be free, satisfaction guaranteed With no memory (Come see us) No memory (We’ll help you) At No Memory (Come see us) At No Memory (We’ll help you) With no memory (Come see us) No memory (We’ll help you) At No Memory (Come see us) At No Memory (We’ll help you)

Two Hits 03:13
Once is a blessing And twice is a fluke Keep the party going While you're bulletproof It might take your whole life To get to the top When you're high on the charts You can't drop One two! Make it four on the floor People lining up outside of the door Making music While the audience screams Keep the motor running on the American dream Once you're flying high You think you'll never come down Private jets keep you safe From the ground Changed your name now You'll never regret The folks you left behind And you try to forget One two! Make it four on the floor People lining up outside of the door Making music While the audience screams Keep the motor running on the American dream Alone with your demons They haunt only you Push away anyone Who tries to get through You blame the world While you blame yourself Every eruption Another cry for help But you're back on the road Back in the studio Whatever it takes To play the next show One two! Make it four on the floor People lining up outside of the door Making music While the audience screams Keep the motor running on the American dream One two! Make it four on the floor People lining up outside of the door Making music While the audience screams Keep the motor running One two! Keep the motor running on the American dream

I got away as fast as I could I had no idea where I was going Or what I would do when I got there But I kept running and running and running and running The rising sun had yet to burn off the morning dew Blades of grass glistened in the sun as my wet feet ripped through them I wiped my brow repeatedly with the back of my hand My eyes stinging from the sweat trickling into them I felt the beginning of a stitch in my side As the lactic acid started to build up I kept running and running and running And did everything I could to keep running! We're waiting for your Hope you know how to get through I didn't know what road to take I didn't know what case to make I had to prove I wasn't fake With something more than A secret handshake I turned the corner and sped down the alleyway I was racing downhill, leaning forward I almost began to tumble I didn't look down but I could feel the sidewalk fall out below me Every touch of my foot began to get lighter and lighter and lighter It was like I was riding the edge of a cyclone The world rushed by faster, and faster than I could make out But still I knew how to pour it on Finally I saw it way off in the distance I ran and ran and ran to get there Soon enough I arrived, I sprinted up to the gate And at the end of the street I screamed "Let me in! Let me in! Let me in!" We're waiting for your Hope you know how to get through I didn't know what road to take I didn't know what case to make I had to prove I wasn't fake With something more than A secret handshake We waited for your We all knew that you'd get through I didn't know what road to take I didn't know what case to make I had to prove I wasn't fake With something more than A secret handshake I didn't know what road to take I didn't know what case to make I had to prove I wasn't fake With something more than A secret handshake

On the level But not the right time I knew the answer Or so I thought Ai yai yai yai yai yai thought I was so certain This search was right But all the while It was just spite Ai yai yai yai yai just spite Oh, look at the lights here So bright, they’re guiding me home But I’m not yet quite there Right town, wrong address And so I seek Rekindled flame And if the embers Can be the same Oh could it be the same? I was left hanging My heart strings torn If I could find you I won't be forlorn Ai yai yai yai yai forlorn Oh, look at the lights here So bright, they’re guiding me home But I’m not yet quite there Right town, wrong address Oh I was here Just looking for you Oh I was here Just looking for you Ai yai yai yai yai yai you Oh, look at the lights here So bright, they’re guiding me home But I’m not yet quite there Right town, wrong address Oh, look at the lights here So bright, they’re guiding me home But I’m not yet quite there Right town, wrong address

Please Move 02:59
Ooh ooh ooooh Ooh ooh ooooh Ooh ooh ooooh Lookin’ down from a thousand feet Vision so obscured No markers or guides to show the way With footing so unsure I’ve been in this place myself So many trying times But if you can take a step right now The rest will fall in line Ooh ooh ooooh Ooh ooh ooooh Ooh ooh ooooh Is the world crashing down upon your head No exit you can see A little sign that it’s OK A smile you can free I can see how you got here Twistin’ on the vine Trust that if you step right now The rest will fall in line, but Please move I know it seems impossible but Push through Bright colors are seen all around what You do You’re not alone I’m right here now but just Please move I know it seems impossible but So many ways that you can go There’s one that you can find Trust that if you step right now The rest will fall in line, but Please move I know it seems impossible but Push through Bright colors are seen all around what You do You’re not alone I’m right here now but just Please move

Played out on the table With a custom tarot deck Revealing your fortune Takes your whole paycheck Can you see it all in your crystal ball? The illusion reflected back at you? You’ll know it when you see it It’s obvious and true You’ll know it when you see it The truth is not a secret Made a living out of mystery Revealing it slowly Following all the crumbs Pretending they’re holy Can you see it all in your crystal ball? The illusions reflected back at you? You’ll know it when you see it It’s obvious and true You’ll know it when you see it The truth is not a secret A verbal sleight of hand You describe to obscure At best there's nothing there But you can't be sure Can you see it all in your crystal ball? The illusions reflected back at you? You’ll know it when you see it It’s obvious and true You’ll know it when you see it The truth is not a secret Classic and convincing Watching and listening Hinting and phishing Spinning and twisting You’ll know it when you see it It’s obvious and true You’ll know it when you see it The scales fall from your eyes You’ll know it when you see it It’s obvious and true You’ll know it when you see it The truth is not a secret

Color Me 03:37
We don’t see the world The way that others do They have clear delineation We have super saturation And I knew I’d get you Right from when I met you I said my favorite number Is the color blue When you say my name Blue color floating in space When you say my name You color me in a whole new way When you flash a smile You speak to me with light Your words’ reverberation Give me a strange sensation And I knew I’d love you Right from when I met you You said your favorite number Is the color blue When you say my name Blue color floating in space When you say my name Connected colors and shapes When you say my name Blue color floating in space When you say my name You color me in a whole new way

Walk Steady 03:19
Birth and death, have yet to meet Tired flames, embers ‘neath my feet Dreams alive, with harps and halos While I wake up to sulfur and volcanoes The voices tell me what I already know I try not to listen, but still they flow A silvery lady, tempting and ready Gather conviction and walk steady Unbalanced, afraid on the wire Farther to fall as you move higher The net below, a tenuous goal Falling through to a six deep hole The voices tell me what I already know I try not to listen, but still they flow A silvery lady, tempting and ready Gather conviction and walk steady Wild horses run without thinking Drawing speed from a feral upbringing Death and birth we understand The start and end of the same man Wind blowing through the tall grass Another shot taken from another glass The voices tell me what I already know I try not to listen, but still they flow A silvery lady, tempting and ready Gather conviction and walk steady The voices tell me what I already know I try not to listen, but still they flow A silvery lady, tempting and ready Gather conviction and walk steady Walk steady

Run away the summer is ending, Thinking back I cherish the memories You were my valentine from elementary When we were young and so complimentary The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws When I dream everything you said lives on A travesty commentary on a life lived long It’s hard to give up on the one you love They fly away on the wings of a dove The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws Innocent eyes do not see the rough roads Hearts full of hope don’t decipher the codes When the lightest of spirits lift the heaviest of loads They keep moving forward ignoring crossroads The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws The way it isn’t The way it was The way we felt Without flaws

We spend so much time interactive Our physical experience redacted To a digital simulation A haptic feeling of salvation A fantasy in tunnel vision Safe from natural collision Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left When our souls are bereft How will we know the afterlife From the warm glow of a flashlight? We are trying to keep our eyes open Through the immersive explosion Augmenting a forced display In a delicate pixel ballet In the space between fact and illusion We give in to beautiful delusions Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left When our souls are bereft How will we know the afterlife From the warm glow of a flashlight? We become our own avatar We forget who we are We are close but still so far We burn out like a dying star Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left When our souls are bereft How will we know the afterlife From the warm glow of a flashlight? Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left Is this Real Life? It’s what we have left Is this Real Life?

about

Released in February 2021, Secret Places Hidden Spaces is a collection of some of the songs BSS produced for time-crunched music-making competitions in 2019, such as Song Fight! and Nur Ein, where they wrote, arranged, recorded. mixed, mastered and delivered newly completed material within a week’s time of a challenge’s announcement. To bring the album together, the songs were lightly touched up, remixed and remastered, leaving the base material as originally created.

In short, SPHS is 50 years of self-conscious guitar rock thrown into a blender with 2 parts heartfelt vocals, 1 part 80s keyboards and a couple of splashes of percussion.

Let the fog roll in off the bay and drink up with the scene!
